Life is Good!

Happy Mother's Day to you all--I've watched and learned so many good things to emulate from you. I have a very good mother, but I've discovered by watching my friends that there's more than one way to do things.
My morning began somewhere else than home. Yesterday was our 17th wedding anniversary and Chris & I were going out to dinner, which we did, and then Chris kidnapped me to a hotel for the night. It was a little bit of heaven with no worries and a great massage.
Previously, during the week, I was feeling less than stellar. It was a busy week as always with kids to get to swim practices & scouts and field day and primary meetings and a baptism in the ward, etc. I'd take Olivia to practice and she wouldn't get in the water. A lot of times I try to read my psych book during practices and there it is in black & white talking about self-esteem and achievement "These nonpersisters have a history of critical maternal feedback about their worth and performance" My head says "oh no, that's me %#&@". A few days later I find out Colton didn't turn in a major assignment and he never said anything when I ask if he's getting all his assignments in. The next day I read in my psych book about moral development "children generally choose the most lenient standard of behavior that adults demonstrate" Oh no, I'm doing it to them again, &%$#"
Maybe this class isn't good for my self-esteem :-)
But Colton got his assignment in and at swimming time trials Olivia made it all the way across and the kids were so sweet to me today--maybe I haven't ruined them and I'll keep learning by watching the good mothering of all my good friends. Life is good.
