So my nephew, Jon, has been living with his sister here in our neighborhood for about the past six months. I really didn't know him too well, but its been great to have him. He's leaving today back home to the Sacramento area. He received his mission call to the Colorado Denver South mission (s0 be on the lookout Shauna & Michelle). He will report to MTC in early July. He's been a great babysitter and a human playground for my kids. They've enjoyed capture-the-flag, xbox, rockband, hacky-sack, trampoline ball wars and all kinds of fun. Caleb always thought Jon's cell phone was just for him! So farewell Jon & we'll see ya with your report of mission accomplished!
Also, I managed to make it through speaking at stake conference. People were very kind in their compliments. Though the other speakers were an 11-year old girl, and 18-year old boy, and a 21-year old missionary, so I felt like the old lady. My kids watched from a different room, so I thought it was cool they got to see me on TV.
So I was asked to share my testimony and personal experiences of 2 Nephi 31:20. So I tried to share my personal stories--which I don't like to do in large groups! Later someone said "so you used to hate your callings" Oh I hope I didn't say that. I meant I had a bad attitude, and now I wish I would have inferred that I always just felt insecure about them like I didn't know what I was doing and didn't know how to magnify. I never did anything like not show up. Anyways, it turned out to be a good experience.
Alas, I shouldn't even be posting, but it'd been so long. I have a mid-term in child development tomorrow, mounds of laundry and we only have an inch of milk left--but I will endure and it will all work out!
My love to you all--thanks for being a listening friend :-)

Way to go on your talk! I'm sure it was great. I wish I could've been there to hear it.
Anna-Lisa - your talk was awesome!! Not only did I think so, but I talked to several people afterwards who were also very impressed with it and felt like they got a lot out of it. They should get you to speak every year!! :) I was in the RS room watching and saw your kids light up and point at the tv when you started speaking. Very proud of their mom!
You rock AL. I'm sure the talk was good. Nobody knows better about the verbal slip-ups at the pulpit better than (you know who) who never intended to be remembered for saying Crap from the pulpit.
You'll have to call to tell me the last name of your nephew.
I was hoping you'd say something about how your talk went, I was thinking of you last weekend. I knew you'd do a great job! And I think we all come across at times as not liking our callings, it's just part of being human...plus I never remember hearing you complain.
Thanks for posting!
Well, like I already said, your talk was impressivly powerful, probably one of the best I've heard in a long time. The whole congregation seemed fixed on what you were saying, and the spirit was so strong. Even Pres. Pack seemed moved. Everyone I've talked to seems to agree. So don't beat yourself up, you obviously followed the promptings of the spirit when preparing. :o)
Way to go speaking! That would be something that i would be so scared to do... and to think i used to LOVE that.
Jon misses the kids too. Its fun to have him back, well, sorta. Now i get to steal him for a few weeks, although i am sure he has othe rmotives for coming to Utah to visit.... ;)
