We got to take a trip!

I'm closer to forty than I feel and I've pretty much not been to a lot of places. It was great to go to our nation's capitol with Chris for a long weekend. The kids all stayed home with my niece, Tia, and we got to stay with our good friends, the Wakes.

We arrived Thursday and got a great tour of someplace I can't mention (people are trained there) by someone who does something for the law.

Friday we rode the metro in then walked, and walked, and walked (like the song). Didn't arrive in time to get tickets to tour the Capitol, but much to the men's delight we saw some orchids in the Smithsonian Gardens. Then we got take the metro to lunch and Arlington (totally awe-some).

All the memorials are so well done. I'm so glad some of the things said by our founding fathers are carved in stone for the world to see. It would be nice if our senators and congressmen would take the tour and remember the great country we have.

Friday we got supreme service by our friends as our personal taxicab so I could see a few more things. We were all going to the National Art Gallery and chanced upon the Navy's Blessing of the Fleet. Very impressive.

Though it was exhausting, it was great. We flew home Sunday morning and I had time on the plane to finish watching the third season of The Office on Colton's ipod--finally. I'm just too busy. So at church I got my two new counselors for primary and it was ward conference--great to have the stake to do sharing time. Unfortunately, they must have been watching me or something and I got a call and asked to speak at stake conference in two weeks. So until that's over I'll probably have nothing to say and my head will hurt. The topic is about 'enduring to the end' so I guess that's what I'll do!

What a fun trip! I'm so glad you got to have a get-away! You guys look great!

Good luck with that talk. If I were you, I'd call that friend that spoke at Women's conference and offer her some money . . .

Hey, it's just an idea.
