Summer is here!

So far the common elements of my kid's summer seems to consist of swimming and xbox while their diet is the regular consumption of gatorade, cereal, and ice cream--though not necessarily at the same time. It's been good to have more time to spend together, though eating healthy doesn't seem to be on the list. Actually, we stopped by one of the fresh fruit stands and enjoyed local nectarines and tomatoes. Mine are coming along nicely, and so I should be able to pick my own tomatoes soon. I got cherry tomatoes, a new variety called sun gold, and was waiting for them to turn bright red until they started falling off and getting all mushy. Drats, then I realized they are supposed to stay more on the orange side--gardening keeps me humble.

And swim team is in full swing. The kids are all doing great. It takes a lot of my time but uses a lot of their energy, so it works for me. I'll boast a little on Colton and Jake getting all 1st places last week. Jake for breast, butterfly, and backstroke; Colton in back, butterfly and IM. I'll have to figure out how to post a video or maybe actually remember to take an action picture or two. Colton has also started on a summer water polo team--he's excited. He'll be on the swim and water polo teams in high school next year. Not sure how we'll get him everywhere he needs to be, but it all will work out.

Caleb's started saying he's poo-poo every time he pees his diaper and then wants to take it off and he's running around half naked. That could be a clue for potty training, but I'm sure he has no control and I'll end up cleaning a lot of training pants and floors...it'll have to wait and no more diapers will only be a dream that I wish would come true.

Congrats to Colton and Jake. We planted the same variety of tomatoes and I kept telling the kids not to pick the "un-ripe" one's until Ken told me they were supposed to be orangish yellow. They are great tasting!
